The weekend is almost here and I'm very much looking forward to this one.

Tomorrow is my newest nephew's baptism and family members that I don't get to see too often are coming, including my Grandma. She's 92 and my most favorite person in the world. We just understand each other and that is a rare and special thing. I love her so much and really cherish every minute we get to spend together.

Surely, this weekend will be a bit bittersweet. My Grandma will be meeting this great grandson for the first time and snuggling her other one. Lucky little lads. I will just have to keep on hoping that someday our babies will get that same chance.

My brother lives a bit to the north of us. We were up there last weekend and already the leaves were being kissed with color. Maybe, on our way home, we'll be able to make a little trip to pick up some apples from the orchard. Maybe fall's not so bad after all.

  1. Oh I know how you feel :) I SO badly want my sweet grandma to meet our first baby. She is the most AMAZING woman ever and we love her so much! When we started TTC we told her that we plan to name our first daughter after her- she started to cry. I never thought I'd be racing the clock to bring that baby girl here, hoping that my Grandma's health won't fail first. She has been on the edge for a few years now and it makes me so nervous and sad to think that she might go before our angel comes.
Of some comfort is the knowledge that if they miss each other on Earth, they will cross in Heaven. Perhaps my grandma will be the one to send us our little one. Enjoy your family weekend :)

  2. Your pictures are so beautiful. I love my grandma too. I don't have a child yet, but I hope if I do someday they will be lucky enough to hang with the grandparents. Have a lovely weekend :)

ps. thank you for being so open and honest in your blog. i look forward to reading more and following along on your journey.

  3. Enjoy the time with your family - it must be really special to see four generations together. Thanks for the DC suggestions...we will be sure to check out Baked and Wired and Hook.
Love the photo. So perfectly Fall.

  4. I, too, had that 'kindred spirit' kind of relationship with my Grandma, and acutely miss her at times even though she has been gone 7 years. I am sad my husband never got to meet her -- we started dating 6 months after she passed away. Hoping your babies will be so privileged to know your grandmother!

  5. Jones, I just discovered your blog after you left a comment on mine.

    It. is. so. beautiful.

I feel like I could have written so many of the words that you wrote. Our journeys, so far, are surprisingly similar. I know what you're feeling, and you're doing a gorgeous job of describing it. Hang in there.

  6. Love the photo!

BTW - I left an award on my blog for you! :-) Hope all is well.
